As a Senior IT Technician, you will provide on-site support for device and user issues related to desktops, systems, and networking. You should have strong experience in desktop and infrastructure support, a solid understanding of network device troubleshooting and configuration, consistently provide great customer service, and be able and willing to learn and improve your skills every day.
This position is fully on-site in Cebu, Philippines. Good English (B2 or superior) and Tagalog written and verbal communication are required for the role, interviews will be conducted in English, you must apply with an English resume/CV to be considered.
There are two shifts available:
Shifts:
- 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday
Shifts include breaks and an hour for lunch. Other shifts may be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site and remote support with excellent customer service for users
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktops, printers, servers, and other hardware, along with applications and networking
- Respond immediately to calls, emails, messages, alerts, and tickets
- Proactively review various queues for tickets and take on tasks for customer and business needs
- Document all work done, issue/project status, and time entries correctly on tickets throughout the day
- Support projects and other tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written English communication, C1 or better preferred, B2 minimum
- Expertise troubleshooting and resolving issues with user devices, network gear, infrastructure, and applications
- Experience administering Windows Active Directory, Group Policies, Azure/Entra ID, and various Windows OSes and platforms
- Experience with Microsoft 365 or Exchange administration, migrations, and security
- General networking knowledge including TCP/IP, Layer 2 (VLAN), WAPs, DNS, DHCP
- Windows and Mac deployment and security experience
- Relevant vendor certifications: CompTIA, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Microsoft, VMWare, or equivalent knowledge
Preferred Skills and experience:
- Routing and switching configuration, firewalling basics
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and Management of environments such as VMware Horizon, Citrix, and MS Remote Desktop Services of 50+ users
- VoIP migration
- Backup and data recovery technologies experience (Veeam, Rubrix, etc).
- Experience working with software licensing and software partners.
- Experience supporting Microsoft technologies such as SQL, IIS, DFS, File and Print, etc.
- Knowledge of cyber security technologies (AV, DNS, Web filtering, Firewalls, VPNs, Encryption)
Compensation and Benefits:
Selected candidates’ job grade and total compensation will be determined by the evaluation of factors including relevant skills, knowledge, experience, and communication. Candidates with exceptional skills may be considered for higher level positions. At SMS Datacenter, whether and how you rise from your starting point is in your hands. This is a long-term contract position. The starting compensation is inclusive of all payments under the contract and will not include a 13th-month payment or employer-provided benefits. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, healthcare, and other personal expenses.
There are currently two levels available for this position:
Senior IT Technician: $650 – $1,000 per month / (₱490,000 – ₱750,000 per year). Requires each of the following:
- Good English (B2 minimum), written and verbal
- Strong technical skills with desktop support and network troubleshooting
- CompTIA A+ or equivalent certifications or knowledge at minimum
- 2–4+ years of relevant experience in L1 and L2 roles
L2 Senior IT Technician: $1,000 – $1,400 / (₱750,000 – ₱1,050,000 per year). Requires each of the following:
- Strong English (C1 minimum)
- Exceptional technical skills with desktop support, network troubleshooting, and systems administration
- CompTIA Network+, Server+, MS-102, CCNA, and/or specialized certifications in networking or systems, or equivalent knowledge
- 4–7+ years of relevant experience in positions displaying increasing skills
Contractors who complete the first 90 days of employment will be eligible for Paid Time Off of up to 10 vacation/personal days, 5 sick days, birthdays off, and certain holidays each year.
